Re: Praying to receive Christ

Here is a good type / anti-type for baptism: 1 Peter 3:18-22

I say "good" because "anti-type" is the very word Peter uses in the text.

Kindly,
Don

Re: Praying to receive Christ

All of this discussion is good. The closest of type/anti-type relationships with regard to NT baptism I can think of are the laver/basin in the OT temple, Ex. 30:18, for washing of hands and feet of the priests, and also 1 Cor. 10:2, "...baptized into Moses...", which seems by the context to spotlight submission. NT baptism is expressed as "washing away sins", Acts 22:16, and also as an act of submission, Rom. 6:17, c.f. Rom. 6:1-5.

I noticed I failed in this post to list the word: "antitypos". Some translations render it "the like figure". It is literally the "anti-type".

Better late than never......

Re: Praying to receive Christ

Yep, I try to get back to old post to make sure I follow through on what I said I would. There is a thread in the "private study sections" that I noticed I did not provide the "recap" I said I would. I need to get to that!

Brotherly,
Don
