Hi, I just found this site yesterday, and like what I see. I had a very sour experience on another forum's "Christianity" forum. I never realized there are such blatantly unbiblical groups that think they are Christians. And I never realized that there are so many people who apparently really hate Christians.

I am 75 years old (going on 76 ), and have been a member of the church since Sept. 1966. My Husband and I obeyed the gospel the same day. He used to preach and lead songs, but will soon be 82, and has COPD, so he is down to just leading prayers and serving the communion.

I do not spend much time away from home due to his failing health, so I spend an awful lot of time on the computer. I was attempting to contend for the faith on that "Christianity" forum, but have almost gave up on that effort

I'm sorry for your experience. I myself have encountered much of the same. It seems when the truth is presented to some, no matter how lovingly, they gnash their teeth, much like those in the Bible.

I have added you to the women's only group, so you should now be able to participate in the women's discussions (sorry men, you'll just have to sit out of there! )

That would be great, but I am afraid you may be like the brother that preached one of the lessons in ( what we hope will be ) our first yearly lectureship last month. I told him about that forum. The next day I saw one post from him, and that was all! I think he considered it was like casting his pearls before the swine !
Anyway, if you would like to check it out, it is The City-Data.com forums. My name is the same there as here.
I would like you to read all that I have posted on the "Religion and Philosophy" forum, and it's sub forum "Christianity". I would like it if you would correct me if I didn't behave myself properly when I lost my patience at times.

I've not heard of that one. There are several others of which I know which would definitely try your patience... One piece of (hopefully) wisdom I have gained from writing on these forums -- when people launch personal attacks rather than responding to the Biblical arguments presented, the reason is simple: they do not know how to answer the arguments posed, so they are trying to draw YOU into question. If the messenger is questionable, then so is the message. So as soon as I see a personal attack coming out, I know I've hit pay dirt. I used to get angry, but now I take heart, knowing I'm getting somewhere. Of course, I take great pleasure in pointing this behavior out, which angers the other party. I am also not one to let a person simply change the subject to avoid answering direct questions and arguments, which further angers the other party. The sad thing is this: if a person engages in this kind of behavior, his heart probably isn't soft and it's going to be difficult to reach them. All we can do is plant seeds.
