Greetings from Purcellville, VA

Hello all. I followed Steven here and thought I'd check this place out.

I'm a member of the church of Christ that meets in Purcellville, VA. I have been a Christian for 32 years, having been baptized into Christ in the summer of 1975. I've been married for 21 years to a wonderful man who is an elder in our congregation. We have two sons, ages 15 and 12, both of whom are Christians. Besides teaching children's Bible classes, I write our congregation's VBS materials and publish them on my own web site set up specifically to provide free Bible class materials and other resources. I run our congregation's web site and video tape our gospel meetings and record all our Sunday sermons, which are published on our web site. In my other time, I work in the computer field, specializing in computer network defense. (See a theme here??? ) And in my copious spare time... I hang out on Internet forums and tinker with digital photography and videography. I'm hoping when I retire, to have a business going in videography. I think that's it. Pretty geekish, but at least I stay busy...

Hello Sister Laura and welcome to the forum. Steven warned me about you... opps... uh, er... no, just kidding.

Sounds like you are a computer junkie. Are you ready to take on some more work.

WOW!!! Laura, you have too much time on your hands! I can see now why you want to go back to school.

Seriously, I'm glad I ran upon your introduction. It's certainly a pleasure to get to know you better.

I'm interested in seeing your website of VBS materials. Our teachers under the oversight of the elders write their own VBS materials also.

Pam

Pam, my web site where I publish the VBS materials is in my profile. Just click on my name and choose "View Public Profile".

And... that reminds me. I am well behind on this year's materials. I better get it in gear!

Re: Greetings from Purcellville, VA

Hi Laura,

Your VBS material caught my interest.

At my congregation this year, we developed a bi-monthly "Kid's Day" that is a mini VBS of sorts, themed around a museum with exhibits from the great Bible stories. We've kicked around the idea of publishing it. Have you found the interest and demand to be worth the effort to publish your materials? Any hazards?

Thanks,
Butch

Re: Greetings from Purcellville, VA

I don't have the stats in front of me at present, but the Christian Olympics VBS materials have been downloaded a *lot*. I think this year being an Olympic year has really driven the demand. I have two other sets of materials I need to publish. I just haven't gotten the time to complete yet.
