When you say mankind, do you mean what a man/woman is made up of or all of man kind world wide? |

| Re: Body, Soul, and Spirit Quote:
).Maybe I could have just said "we" are body, soul, and spirit. I have heard our preachers and teachers speak as though we are just spirit and body, as if soul is one or the other, and not a third part of "us". Am I making sense ?

If I were trying to pick this idea apart, would I define our body as the clay vessel, our spirit as our heart or what we are about, and our soul the permanant part of our being?

Many good examples that explain this simple, but complex teaching is found in Genesis 1 and 2. This is a link to blueletterbible.com and a break down of the verse in Gen. 2 about the creation of man. There is the breath of life and soul mentioned as two parts and are two different words, apart from the body. http://www.blueletterbible.org/cgi-b...&version=KJV#7 Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Also notice in this verse, since God is Spirit, this verse describes that man is different from the animals. We are of God's image, animals are not, we are three dimensional if you will, animals are two. Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. |

The one thing that I have taught is to look at this...God made us in His image and the Godhead is in three as we are. Body goes back to the earth, Spirit goes back to God from whence it came and the Soul go to the place prepared for it. (Spirit being the energy that keeps this body alive and going.)

![]() Why oh why does not the brotherhood teach it like that ! I feel like something has been left out when they do not point that out.

Both animals and man share a body...yes we are like monkeys in this way. We also have the spirit of life (breath) like an animal or monkey..the big one, where God made us in His image is our soul...that is forever and will be with God forever or thrown into the lake of fire at judgment.

Others either mis-teach this because they are mistaken, don't know or just plan are in rebellian against God's Word because they do not "like" what they read for some reason. |

| Re: Body, Soul, and Spirit Quote:
I should have said "all of the brotherhood". I am inclined to believe that the brethren that I am thinking of are either mistaken, or do not realize that they are leaving something out. I don't think any of them are "in rebellian". At least not the ones that we are presently associated with.

![]() I know what you mean. These days, just because it has the same designation on the sign, that does not mean at all that they are abiding in the teaching. Sometimes I do not even recognize them spiritually. |

According to the holy scriptures, the exixtence of human beings is based on body, soul and spirit. We are able to carry out every activity on this so long as these three co-exist. When death emerges, the body goes into the earth from where it was taken: the spirit -part of God -goes to God who gave it: and the the permanent part- the thinking part is in God's keeping for final place of eternity. We are wonderfully made.

Unlike monkeys, we are upright in a physical sense as well as a biblical sense. I can show, through hebrew, how that the shape of our physical bodies is included when God said in Genesis let us make man in our image (likeness). In Ezekiel 13 I can show that we can lose our soul and that it can become captive to psychics (who are described as hunters of souls). As for the spirit, I see that it has some connection with our life force, being in our breath and blood, but might also be the main component of our conscious mind - our concept of the existence of "self". For years I went along the the simple explaination described by many as our live-r, our thinker, and our feeler as being our spirit, mind, and soul. But after coming across Ezekiel 13 and other passages I find most of the explaination given by brethren fall apart in some cases. Maybe this is an area that is beyond our ability to totally understand, while we can understand it to some degree. In the OT we are presented with isolated references that show us that our soul can be lost, and that our life force is in our blood (and breath), and much is said about the spirit and souls of man in general. In the NT we are presented with the functioning of all three after being reunited by the work of Christ n our behalf in saving our souls...in other words returning them to us...He paid our debt of sin (sort of like Satan holding our souls for ransome). Yes - all scripture references need to be fully fleshed out. A study would be very fruitful I think.
