I ask for your prayers for my family. In particular my aunt's husband, Gene Avants. He has been diagnosed with inoperable lung and bronchial cancer. He starts chemo and radiation treatment tomorrow. The "treatments" will be grueling, five days a week probably lasting 6 weeks. The outlook is not good, however he is the most resolute and upbeat of us all.

I do not ask that you pray God to heal him. But I do ask, if you would be so kind, to pray for spiritual strength and courage for us all.

I am praying for the right decisions to be made in your Aunt's husband's condition. My mother was diagnosed with lung cancer when she was 75. She opted for no chemo or other treatment , other than relief for any discomfort. We siblings all went with her wishes, and did not pressure her to do otherwise. Although she was told she only had 1 and 1/2 year ro live, she made the most of that time, and had a very enjoyable year or more, without the awful sickness that usually accompanies chemo.
She was a Christian, and never blamed God for her condition. Towards the end , she did say " The Lord is sure making it hard for me."
Of course, we know it is not the Lord who makes such things happen to us. He allows things to happen to us, but generally does not cause them.

By the way, she did not smoke, but my dad did, so it may have been caused by second hand smoke...or not.

I pray that God's will be done in the situation with your Aunt's husband.

How is he reacting to the chemo?

Thanks to all. They are staying in Oklahoma City during the treatments as it is an hour trip one way. I will be talking to them tomorrow after they get settled. I will let you know. You are all a great encouragement to me and my family, thank you all.

Gene underwent a week of "treatment" and handled it pretty well. He felt well enough on Friday that he and my aunt drove down to Dallas to visit my cousins. We all appreciate your prayers.
