Protesters at Methodist conference in Fort Worth decry take on gays
Delegates struggle to determine role of gays, lesbians in the church
Fri, May. 02, 2008
By TERRY LEE GOODRICH
Star-Telegram Staff Writer

Quote:
Nearly 1,000 delegates from around the world are gathered to determine church policy for the denomination, which has more than 11 million members. Votes affirmed the denomination's position against same-sex unions and that homosexual activity is at odds with Christian teaching. The delegates also voted that ordaining gays or lesbians as clergy violates Christian teaching.

Quote:
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — More than 200 Methodists attended a lesbian couple's commitment ceremony Friday in defiance of a vote to uphold a church law that says gay relationships are "incompatible with Christian teaching."

Re: Protesters at Methodist conference in Fort Worth decry take on gays

The Bible is so clear on this point that it is pointless to argue against it.

"For this cause God gave them up unto vile passions: for their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another, men with men working unseemliness, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was due. And even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up unto a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, hateful to God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, unmerciful: who, knowing the ordinance of God, that they that practise such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but also consent with them that practise them. Romans 1:26-32 (ASV)

"Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 ESV

It is not that we HATE those who do such things. We HATE what they do. It is despicable in the sight of God. I pray that they are like those Corinthians that Paul is speaking to in the sixth chapter, verse 11 says thus: "And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God" (ESV)

Another thing to note. Homosexuality is a sin of tremendous consequence both in this life and the one to come. But in God's eyes it is no more or less sinful than any other transgression. Homosexuality is listed with greed, theft, idolatry, adultery, backbiting, deceit, murder, etc. All sin results in the same, a separation from God. How sad.

I have a "GAY" church down the street from me. They posted on their front sign "Jesus does not discriminate". He may not, but he would sure tell them to repent!.

What about "nor homosexuals... will inherit the kingdom of God" do people not understand? That's not our words. That's God's words, and they're thrown right in there with thieves. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. Jesus sure didn't tolerate sin, did He? Who are WE to demand tolerance of sin where Jesus would not?

God does not discriminate against races. Homosexuality is a choice to carry out sinful activities, nothing more.

Acts 17:30-31
Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.
Not a single discriminatory thing in there: "all men everywhere". That's as equal opportunity as you can get.

Re: Protesters at Methodist conference in Fort Worth decry take on gays

My wife caught part of the Today show (I think it was the Today show) this morning and was telling me they were interviewing a gay bishop. The gay bishop stated he had never been closer to God than he was right now.

He is one that is not keeping the law of Christ, thus lawless and believes a lie over the Truth.

2 Thessalonians 2:9-12
The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Re: Protesters at Methodist conference in Fort Worth decry take on gays

I was told a few years back that there was a homosexual congregation of the church in OK. Has anyone ever heard that? I just find that incredibly hard to believe.

Le 18:22
Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Another grest scripture condemning homosexuality
