Catholic and Baptist

A Baptist and a catholic are both driving on a bridge over a river.

The catholic sees a cat in the middle of the road, and slams on his brakes. The cat is avoided, but the Baptist hits the back of the catholic's car with his own.

They step out of their cars, and begin talking. "Oh, I am so sorry, that was my fault," says the Baptist.

While waiting for the police after they called by cell phone, the two men soon start talking about their faiths to pass the time.

"You know, said the catholic, I never understood why baptist don't drink wine to represent Christ's blood." The baptist responds, "Well, we believe that drinking wine is wrong, and just use grape juice instead." "I have a bottle of wine in my glove compartment right now says the catholic. Tell you what, let's drink a little right now while waiting for the police."

"Oh, no I couldn't, replies the baptist, but after pressuring him, the baptist agrees.

The catholic takes out the wine and a couple of Dixie cups, and pours a little into each. The baptist drinks it down quickly. "That wasn't that bad, you're right," the baptisy says. Noticing the catholic hasn't drank his wine, he asks, "Aren't you going to have some?"

"Oh sure," the catholic replies as he tosses the his cup and the bottle of wine over the side of the bridge, "But I'll wait until after the police have come though."

I'd laugh if it were funny. It has too much catholic "look down on others" point to it. Influencing others toward drinking is not funny. Also, for study sake, we should not have fermented wine in communion because fermentation symbolizes sin in the bible and the actual language says, "fruit of the vine", grape juice, not the word for fermented wine.

I understand that, but I didn't find it funny either. Sorry. I liked one of your other jokes though.
