Who is Jesus Christ?

When we see the letters B.C. after a number, we know this refers to the years before Christ. When we see the letters A.D. after a number, we know those letters stand for the Latin words Anno Domini which mean "in the year of our Lord." Therefore, our entire calendar system revolves around the birth of Jesus Christ. So, who is Jesus Christ? If we travel around the world asking this question what would the answer be? The answers would likely vary depending on who we ask. In some areas of the world the name of Jesus is not mentioned. There are other areas where the name of Christ is mentioned only in a neutral or even negative way. And then there are places in the world where Jesus Christ is a household name. When you step back and look at the world's perception of Christ it becomes very confusing. Thankfully, we do not have to rely on what men say or think to find the truth about the Lord Jesus Christ. We can know Christ through the word of God by studying the Bible.

In John 1:1-3, 14 we read "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made…And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth." (KJV) In John 3:16 Jesus refers to Himself as "the only begotten Son." Christ speaks in John 17:5, 24 of His glory and how God loved Him "before the foundation of the world." We also read in Philippians 2:5-7 that Christ Jesus "who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God." John the Baptist, speaking of Jesus Christ said, "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world (John 1:29)."

Who is Jesus Christ? The answer is complex yet crystal clear. Jesus Christ was in the beginning before time had become reality. Jesus Christ will be there when time comes to its certain end (1Thess. 4:13-18; 2 Thess. 1:1-9; 2 Pet. 3:10-12). Jesus Christ was present at every "God said" in Genesis chapter one (John 1:1, 2; 17:5, 24). Jesus Christ made the world and everything in it (John 1:3, 10; Col 1:15-17). Jesus Christ is the Son of God (Phil. 2:5-7). Jesus Christ is God (John 1:1, 14). Let us worship the Lord Jesus Christ, for He is worthy of our worship! (Rev. 4:11).
