But getting this thread back on track......I cannot find any other name besides Cristian that we can wear and be scriptual about it. There were no "reverends" (and it would seem if their were the apostles would have worn that but they didn't, did they?

The main point is that even though Christ had divine power, He even focused ALL thought and praise to the ONLY one who is great enough to be called reverend and we have scripture to back that up (Psa. 111:9). NO man (and that includes the one calling himself pope...or "holy father") is worthy enough to be put that high!!! If so, prove it by God's Word! Enough said...

Give them time. The kids are showing respect for the generation gap; the adults will come around as they know you better and you know them better. You are correct.....there are no titles in Christ's church!!!

I personally think the worst title has to be "Father". I never understood the concept of calling a Preist "Father" when it clearly states in scripture not to do that.

You will find that "they" do not accept that the Bible is the final authority... doctrine can then be changed at any time, so really, "the rule book" is just there to substantiate facts when it is convenient!

I still say that Christ built only one church because that is what His Word says...so where did man get the authority to name any church and to have its followers wear any name and call it a "church of Christ" and call themselves following the one true God???

If this was the real case, then we ALL would be one accord (not the car) and simply doing what the Bible states and stop putting things in where they are not or removing things where we don't like them.

You hear more & more Churches re-interpeting the Word of God into their own meaning.
