God and His Children

He stands up for His Children:

- Pharaoh – Let my people go - Exodus 5

- Red Sea - Exodus 14

- Stephen during stoning – Acts 7:53-56 (Jesus standing at the right hand of the Father as a show of concern)

- God causing the downfall of those that persecuited His children (hearing their prayers)- Revelation 8:3-6

He Guard:

2 Thessalonians 3:3
But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.
He suffered for His people:

- Jesus

Hebrews 13:11-13
11 For the bodies of those animals, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned outside the camp. 12 Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate. 13 Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach.

He blesses His people, in this life and the life after:

- Worldly things, such as a Job, food,

Matthew 6:30-33
30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

- Salvation
1 Thessalonians 5:9
9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.

He heals His children:

- Physician of our souls

Matthew 9:11-13
11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12 When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’[a] For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

1 Peter 2:23-26
23 who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; 24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. 25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer[a] of your souls.

Dwells/Intimate with His children:

- The church

Revelation 2:1
1 “To the angel of the church of Ephesus write,
‘These things says He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands:

Ephesians 2:19-23
19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

- Heaven (sit next to Rev)

Revelation 3
21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

- Promises to stay with who stay with Him.

1 John 2:24
Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.

He rescues His children:

- Spiritual slavery

Romans 6:18
And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.

Romans 6:22
But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.

John 8:31-36
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?”
34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 35 And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

- Jesus and Peter walking on the water

Matthew 14:28-31
28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous,[a] he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

- Jesus stopping the storm

Matthew 8:23-26
23 Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. 24 And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. 25 Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”
26 But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

He feeds His children:

- I am the bread of life

John 6 - Feeds 5000 and proclaims He is the bread of life

He disciplines His children:

- Corrects

Proverbs 3:12
For whom the LORD loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.

He blesses His children:

Ephesians 1:3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

He teaches lessons to His children:

- Teaches

Isaiah 48:17
Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: “ I am the LORD your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go.

Micah 4:2
Many nations shall come and say, “ Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths.” For out of Zion the law shall go forth, And the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

- Guides

Psalm 48:14
For this is God,Our God forever and ever; He will be our guide Even to death.

Psalm 78:52
But He made His own people go forth like sheep,And guided them in the wilderness like a flock;
He leads His children

Psalm 25:9
The humble He guides in justice,And the humble He teaches His way.
- Cloud leading in the desert Exodus 13:21

- By Word
Psalm 73:24

You will guide me with Your counsel,And afterward receive me to glory.

- By example

1 Peter 2:21
For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:

EG - Military, an officer leads first, in front, setting the example for the rest under his charge. Jesus is set as this leader before us.

2 Corinthians 2:14
Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
He establishes order and pattern for His children

1 Corinthians 14:33
For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.Prophets example

Hebrews 8:5 (old law)
who serve the copy and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He said, “See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”

2 Timothy 1:13 (New Law)
Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.

He tells the Truth to His children:

John 8:43-45 (Contrasted God our Father VS satan their father)
43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me.

Romans 3:4
Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written:“ That You may be justified in Your words,And may overcome when You are judged.”

- Tells us what is important and what He wants, His mind so we can KNOW; now wonder what God wants or thinks about something.

1 John 5:13
These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
He is consistent with His children

Malachi 3:6
“ For I am the LORD, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.
- Gospel given once and for all

Ephesians 4:5
one Lord, one faith, one baptism;

Romans 6:10
For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.

Jude 1:3
Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.

He does not respect one child over another
"Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth Him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with Him." (Acts 10:34)

"... God shows no personal favoritism to no man ...." (Galatians 2:6)

"For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality nor takes a bribe." (Deuteronomy 10:17)

"And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one's work ... " (1 Peter 1:17)

Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

God values each child:
- Parable of lost sheep Luke 15

He runs to His Children:
- Prodigal Son - Luke 15:11-32 – Turn to the verse

Re: God and His Children

Good stuff! I guess I've considered all of these at some point in the past but never in a condensed format like this. I'm not sure why God loves me like he does especially considering all of my shortcomings but I'm sure glad he does! What blessings come from being a child of God!

Re: God and His Children

Thanks bros for the words....There was so much I could say about what He does for us. Even with this much I ran out of time in the sermon. I fear for those who stand against God's children. They do not realize what they do, truly, because if they did, they would fall on their face in fear. They might not believe or fear in this world but they will fall before God and the things they did to His children will be remembered and regretted.

Yep, there is John 3 and a whole ton of verses that demonstrate and tell of God's love :-)
