Christianity is a "one another" religion

Christianity is a "one another religion". The scriptures teach us how Christians are to behave towards each other. It should be our goal to try and seek these characteristics out and conform ourselves to these guidelines. When interacting with others of the faith it is important to realize that none of us are higher than or better than any other. The proper attitude we display towards each other is an evident sign of what we are on the inside. Are we displaying the fruits of the Spirit in our lives? Can outsiders look upon our attitudes one toward another and conclude that they would want to be a member of our family?

Faithful Christians Should:

Love one another:
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another ; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another (John 13:34-35).

Prefer one another in honor:
Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another (Romans 12:10).

Admonish one another:
And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another (Romans 15:14).

Speak the truth in love one to another:
But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ (Ephesians 4:15).

With gentleness one to another:
And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth (2 Timothy 2:24-25).

With meekness one to another:
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted (Galatians 6:1).

Forbear one another:
With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love (Ephesians 4:2).

Forgive one another:
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you (Ephesians 4:32).

Comfort one another:
Wherefore comfort one another with these words (1 Thessalonians 4:18).

Edify one another:
Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do (1 Thessalonians 5:11).

Exhort one another:
But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin (Hebrews 3:13).

Provoke one another to Good Works:
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works (Hebrews 10:24).

Bear one another's burdens:
Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2).

Serve one another:
For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another (Galatians 5:13).

Esteem one another better than ourselves:
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves (Philippians 2:3).

Receive one another:
Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God (Romans 15:7).

Consider one another:
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works (Hebrews 10:24).

Pray for one another:
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much (James 5:16).

Christians should not:

Hate one another:
For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another (Titus 3:3).

Provoke and Envy one another:
Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another (Galatians 5:26).

Bite and devour one another:
But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another (Galatians 5:15).

Throw stumbling blocks in front of one another:
Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way (Romans 14:13).

1 John 4:7-12
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another .
12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

In Conclusion:

Philippians 2:5-8
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Re: Christianity is a "one another" religion

Very good post, brother David. Some years ago I added this topical study to my other studies. I used my Young's Analyical Concordance, and wrote down every scripture in the New Testament that mentioned 'one another'.
I wish all the brethren were taught more fully on these scriptures. We are to be closer than a blood family...i.e., our kinfolks.
Our little congregation is that way, except for one family that will practically attack you if you say anything that their immediate family does/did is wrong.
They apparently do not understand what Jesus said about " if anyone loves mother, father, sister, brother, son or daughter more then Me, they are not worthy of Me."

We are having a problem with this, because one granddaughter, who does not even attend our meetings, (and I am not sure she attends anywhere), is being payed by our congregation to clean our building, and she has fallen way down on her duties. 'We' are afraid to approach her, or her mother, or her granddmother about it, because they would become very angry at anyone who did so. I am not sure about her uncle, he may be more open to having it pointed out to him.

Sorry if I took this off-topic.

But do you have any suggestions?

Marian

Re: Christianity is a "one another" religion

Very good post Bro. Hersey. I have copied it into my "Church" file on my computer to be retrieved at another time. I keep these for use in devotionals, class teaching and to individuals that may need this particular type of information. I have family that is in dire need of some understanding of Biblical teaching and practical applications. This is a very good example of what is needed by all. (including me)
