As for the gospel plan of salvation, yes one must be obedient to all of it. That is why one must make the choice to become a member when they can, not when it is to late. Think of all those people in the twin towers that died without being saved- tragic! My advice to everyone when I preach is to choose this day Christ as Lord and put him on in baptism.
As for the thief, we have a thread that shows with BCV that Christ had the authority to forgive sins. This he did. Once Christ ascended to the Father (Acts 1) the Christian dispensation was in effect. It requires baptism. Baptism and the Holy Spirit are essential to salvation: John 3:5, Acts 2:38, Mark 16:16.
Jesus teaches that one MUST be born of water and Spirit (John 3:5) we see water and Spirit coming together at baptism in Acts 2:38 (Peter affirms what Jesus taught) and baptism is essential (Mark16:16). Baptism is they way one is placed in Christ (Galatians 3:27) being in Christ matters because it is where we receive all spiritual blessings (Ephesians 1:3).
Kindly,
Don

Glad to hear that you have been studying the Bible! |
Thank you again Don for being kind and patient with me
As for the name of our church, to name it Christ the King is Scriptural because clearly He is the king, but I see what you're saying...I"ll have to study further, but as of now the Lord has not layed this on my heart as wrong at all....I"m just being honest.
as for salvation...could you show me the thread that talks about the thief? I"m not understanding. Eph.1:13-14 says that we are included in Christ when we hear and believe the Gospel of salvation. By believing we are marked with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit. ...I understand that Baptism is a MUST but shouldn't we believe those who surrender to God in the last hours are saved? What about all who never even hear the Gospel?? What about all the children who die hours / days after birth?? It's one thing to hear and reject, it's quite another to not have an opportunity . I need more insight please.
As for miracles...I just can't get still in my Spirit to agree with you for some reason. I haven't studied it completely yet, but form the time I have studied I just can't gather your thoughts on it. But even so...if there are miracles today or not, this question does not injure my salvation. Salvation is the one we MUST get right!
God is very much alive in myself as well as other members of the church I attend...I have no doubts at all that this is where the Lord wills me to be. My Spirit is very peaceful on this note.

But I will never close my ears to teachings...How ignorant I would be to say "I"m right and you're wrong"...I must follow the example of those in Berea, the Bereans who listened to Paul teach at night and then went back to SEARCH Scripture themselves to make sure it was truth

I will continue to study...
