It has no bearing on New Testament Christianity today, except that studying the arguments made by those who studied themselves out of denominationalism can help in converting people out of denominations today. Some like to study it simply because they are history buffs. Personally I find the study of how Roman Catholicism and the various denominations came to be much more interesting. Reminds me of the history of Israel. Studying the restoration movement doesn't make one a part of it any more than studying Roman Catholicism makes one a Catholic or studying Nazi Germany makes one a Nazi.
