“Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?”
This verse came to my mind the other day after I planted my cantaloupes in the garden for the second time. This long-billed bird is coming in behind me and eating my cantaloupe seed! I don’t know what kind he is, but he must be able to smell because he knows “exactly” where to stick his beak into the ground and eat the seed. All the while I am thinking, God is supposed to feed you, not me.

I now have plastic drinking cups over the seed hills until the cantaloupes come up. Plus, I have sheet iron (tin) around my garden to keep the rabbits out. It’s war, almost.
Thanks for your reminder, Lee. I needed to be reminded of such things. We too are suffering the effects of crop losses and such because of the weather. I suppose we had sandstorms almost every day this past week. I mean, we are having 100 degree temperatures with 40-60 mph winds. That’s like sticking your head into a “corn dryer.”
