One of those verses in the Bible that leaves no room for arguement on its meaning. I think that verse alone says that simply call on his name. There is no cliff not saying you have to be baptised. My point is I am trying to clear that part of the discussion up, call upon the name of the Lord and you can be saved. Woot go God. |
When the folks listening to Peter on Pentecost heard that they should call upon the name of the Lord (Acts 2:21) they asked what to do and were told to be baptised for the remission of their sins (Acts 2:38). When Paul was told what he must do (Acts 22:10) he was told to be baptised and wash away his sins, calling upon the name of the Lord (Acts 22:16). ALL scripture is in harmony. We cannot know what God has to say on a subject until we hear ALL that God has said on a subject. You cannot take Romans 10:13 and not examine ALL teachings on "calling on the name of the Lord" to understand what God is saying. Likewise, you cannot take 1 Peter 3:21 and say "there is no room for argument we are saved by baptism ONLY". 1 Peter 3:21 must harmonize with Romans 10:13. The relevant passages in Acts allow for us to see the beautiful harmony.
